Vincent van Gogh was a Post-Impressionist painter whose work is defined by emotional intensity, bold color, and expressive brushwork. He used color and movement to convey feeling such as his swirling skies, vibrating landscapes, and paint application. This was a huge part of how he portrayed his visual language. Van Gogh believed art should express the inner life of the artist. Many of his most famous works such as Starry Night, and Sunflowers reflect his search for meaning, connection, and comfort.
