Hugh Cott’s career included lecturing in Zoology at Cambridge University and serving as the Strickland Curator of Birds. He is widely recognized for his extensive research on camouflage and mimicry in nature, applying this expertise during both World Wars as a camouflage instructor for the Royal Engineers and as chief instructor in Egypt. The artwork in this calendar adds a variety of bright coloured backgrounds to Cott’s original illustrations. A talented artist and photographer, Cott often used his illustrations in his scientific work and was a founding member of the Society of Wildlife Artists.
